This started with one rep on the incline leg press at 17 years old.
I felt something shift. The kind of feeling that makes your stomach drop mid-set.
I tried to walk it off. I couldn't re-rack the machine. Something was wrong.
After imaging, I got the answer I wasn't ready for: Grade 1 Spondylolisthesis.
I sat there at 17 hearing one of the best spine surgeons in the Middle East tell me to consider surgery to stabilise my spine. I was young, scared, and had no idea what any of it meant.
I woke up every day not knowing how my back would feel. The first steps out of bed were a test.
Sitting hurt. Bending hurt. Training, the thing that made me feel like myself, felt like it was gone forever.
It didn't just affect my body. It changed who I was. I became irritable, withdrawn, disconnected. The people closest to me noticed it before I did.
The worst part? I didn't look injured. So I felt guilty for not showing up the way I used to, in the gym, with my family, in every area of my life.
I knew if I kept going like this, I wouldn't become the person I was trying to be. I couldn't keep showing up as a fraction of myself.
So I stopped waiting for someone to fix me, and started figuring it out myself.


Physio, chiro, pain medication, cortisone injections, massage therapy, YouTube rehab, stretching routines. You name it, I tried it.
Nothing moved the needle.
And the worst part wasn't the pain itself. It was watching everything I cared about get smaller because of it.
I kept showing up to PT. My core got stronger. My hips got stronger. But the pain stayed exactly where it was. Then i got back into lifting again.. first rep, shooting pain straight down my leg.
After that, everything revolved around managing it. I stopped sleeping in my bed. I stopped training. I stopped making plans because I didn't know how I'd feel.
I didn't just lose lifting. I lost the version of myself I'd worked hard to build. I wasn't weak, I just had no idea I was rebuilding the wrong things the entire time.
I stopped looking for something to fix me and started building what I was actually missing.
I studied everything, hip mechanics, deep core activation, spinal load progression, movement patterns that actually transfer to real life. I stopped following generic protocols and started building a system designed specifically for a spine like mine.
Then something shifted.
The stiffness in the morning got lighter. I could sit through a full meal without repositioning. I slept in my bed again. I stopped thinking about my back every waking minute.
